Exact Hosting has acquired Tela Powered Services. Until users are migrated to the Exact Hosting email platform, Tela Powered email continues to use the original Tela Powered server settings. This article shows you how to configure your email client to send and receive mail using those settings.
About Tela Powered email
Tela Powered email runs on its original infrastructure while migration to Exact Hosting's platform is planned. Webmail is available at webmail.telapowered.com, and you can also connect any IMAP, POP, or SMTP-compatible mail client using the settings below.
Note: IMAP is recommended over POP for most users because it keeps your mail synchronized across multiple devices.
Before you begin
- Your Tela Powered email address. This is the full address, for example, you@yourdomain.com, you use to sign in to webmail.
- Your Tela Powered email password. This is the password associated with your Tela Powered mailbox.
- A mail client that supports IMAP, POP, or SMTP. Examples include Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, and the default mail apps on iPhone, iPad, and Android.
Step 1: Configure incoming mail (IMAP or POP)
Use these settings in your mail client to receive Tela Powered email. Choose either IMAP or POP based on your needs.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Account type | IMAP or POP; select Other if your client does not list these directly. |
| Incoming mail server | mail.telapowered.com |
| IMAP port (SSL/TLS) | 993 |
| POP port (SSL/TLS) | 995 |
| SSL/TLS | On, or Auto |
| Secure Password Authentication (SPA) | Off |
| Username | Your full Tela Powered email address |
| Password | Your Tela Powered email password |
Warning: SSL/TLS must be enabled. Connecting without encryption exposes your username and password.
Step 2: Configure outgoing mail (SMTP)
Use these settings to send mail through the Tela Powered SMTP server.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Outgoing SMTP server | mail.telapowered.com |
| SMTP port (SSL/TLS) | 465 |
| SMTP port (STARTTLS / AUTO TLS) | 587 |
| SSL/TLS | On, or Auto |
| Outgoing server requires authentication | Yes |
| Username | Your full Tela Powered email address |
| Password | Your Tela Powered email password |
Tip: Use the same username and password for outgoing mail that you use for incoming mail.
Step 3: Test sending and receiving
After saving your settings, send a test message to yourself and confirm it arrives. If the test fails, recheck the server names, ports, and that SSL/TLS is enabled.
