Parking a Domain in WHM

A parked domain is a secondary domain that points to a primary domain so that visiting either address loads the same website. This article shows resellers how to park a domain on an existing cPanel account through WebHost Manager (WHM).

About parked domains

Parked domains let you direct multiple domain names to a single website without duplicating content. For example, if cpanel.com is parked on top of cpanel.net, visitors who type either address see the same site.

Parked domains are also commonly called aliases in newer versions of cPanel and WHM.

Before you begin

  • Reseller WHM access. You need WHM credentials with permission to manage parked domains for the target cPanel account.
  • An existing cPanel account. The primary domain must already be hosted on the server.
  • DNS pointed at the server. The secondary (parked) domain's nameservers or A record must already resolve to your Exact Hosting server, or visitors will not see the parked site.

Accessing the Park a Domain tool

  1. Sign in to WHM as the reseller.
  2. In the left-hand search box, type Park a Domain.
  3. Click Park a Domain to open the tool.

Step 1: Select the primary domain

Tell WHM which cPanel account the new parked domain should be attached to.

  1. Enter the primary domain name in the text box at the top of the interface, or select it from the drop-down menu.
  2. Confirm that the selected domain matches the cPanel account you want to add the parked domain to.

Step 2: Enter the domain to park

  1. In the New Domain field, enter the domain you want to park (for example, example.com).
  2. Click Submit to create the parked domain.

Tip: Click Reset at any point to clear the form and start over.

Step 3: Confirm the parked domain works

After WHM confirms the domain was added:

  1. Wait for DNS propagation (typically a few minutes to a few hours).
  2. Visit the parked domain in a browser and confirm it loads the primary website.

Note: If the parked domain does not load the primary site, verify the domain's nameservers point to your Exact Hosting server and that no conflicting DNS records exist.

Next steps

  • Add more parked domains. Repeat the steps above to park additional domains on the same cPanel account.
  • Manage DNS for the parked domain. Use WHM's DNS zone editor to fine-tune records if needed.
  • Remove a parked domain. Use the Modify an Account or List Parked Domains interface to remove a parked domain when it is no longer needed.
