Resetting Your cPanel Password

Your cPanel password controls access to your hosting control panel, where you manage files, email, databases, and more. This article shows you how to reset it from the Exact Hosting client portal.

About your cPanel password

cPanel is the hosting control panel included with your Exact Hosting plan. Your cPanel password is separate from your Exact Hosting account login — changing one does not affect the other. You can generate a new cPanel password at any time from the Services section of your account.

Before you begin

• An active Exact Hosting account. You must be able to log in to my.exacthosting.com to complete these steps.
• An active hosting service. Your hosting plan must be in an Active state. If your service is suspended or expired, contact support before proceeding.

Step 1: Log in to your account

1. Go to my.exacthosting.com and sign in with your Exact Hosting credentials.
2. From your dashboard, click the Services icon.

Step 2: Open your hosting service

1. Locate your hosting plan in the services list.
2. Click Active next to the plan whose cPanel password you want to reset. This opens the management page for that hosting service.

Step 3: Change your cPanel password

1. Click Change Password.
2. Use the password generator to create a new password, or enter one of your own.
3. Confirm the new password in the confirmation field.
4. Click Save to apply your changes.

Next steps

• Log in to cPanel with your new password. Use it the next time you access your control panel.
• Use a strong, unique password. Choose at least 12 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
• Update saved credentials. If you stored your old cPanel password in an email client or FTP application, update it there too.
