Exact Hosting Billing and Renewal Management Guide

Exact Hosting offers a variety of domain, website, and email hosting plans, including WordPress and Managed WordPress plans. From the Exact Hosting client area, you can upgrade or downgrade a hosting plan, cancel services, manage domain renewals, and update your payment method. Hosting plans are available for purchase for terms of up to three years.

About hosting plans and domain renewals

The Exact Hosting client area is the central place to manage your services and billing. You can change plan tiers at any time, cancel a service you no longer need, control whether a domain auto-renews, and add or remove credit cards used for auto-pay.

Note: Customers on legacy hosting plans can upgrade to a modern plan, but cannot revert back to a legacy plan once they upgrade.

Before you begin

  • An active Exact Hosting account. You need login credentials for the Exact Hosting client area to manage services and billing.
  • A valid credit card on file. Auto-renewals and plan changes require a working payment method. Debit cards are not accepted.
  • Access to the billing contact email. Renewal reminders and invoices are sent to the email address on the account.

Step 1: Sign in to the Exact Hosting Client Area

All hosting and domain management actions start from the client area.

  1. Go to the Exact Hosting client area.
  2. Click Login.
  3. Enter your email address and password, then click Login.

Step 2: Upgrade or Downgrade a Hosting Plan

You can change the tier of any active hosting service from the Services page.

  1. Click Services.
  2. Find the service you want to adjust and click anywhere on that row.
  3. Click Upgrade/Downgrade to view available plans.
  4. Choose your subscription period and click Choose Product.
  5. Confirm the payment method is correct, then click Continue to finalize payment.

Step 3: Cancel a Hosting Plan

Cancellation requests are submitted from the same service detail page.

  1. Click Services.
  2. Find the service you want to cancel and click anywhere on that row.
  3. Click Request Cancellation.
  4. Briefly describe your reason for cancellation, check the confirmation box, and choose the cancellation type.
  5. Click Request Cancellation to submit.

Note: Choose Immediate to cancel right away, or End of Billing Period to keep the service active until your current term expires.

Step 4: Manage Domain Name Renewal Settings

Our system automatically generates invoices and processes payments for domains set to auto-renew, as long as a valid payment method is on file. Disabling auto-renew lets the domain expire at the end of its current term.

Cancel a domain name renewal

To cancel a domain, disable auto-renew in the client area and allow the domain to expire fully.

  1. Click Domains.
  2. Click anywhere on the row of the domain you want to manage.
  3. Choose Auto Renew.
  4. Select Disable Auto Renew.
  5. Click My Domains.
  6. Confirm the renewal status is now set to off.

Note: During the expiry window, the registrar may continue to send renewal reminder notifications. You can disregard these if you no longer want the domain.

Step 5: Manage Your Payment Method

The Exact Hosting support team cannot accept credit card details by email or phone. You update card information yourself inside the client area.

Add a credit card

Exact Hosting accepts all major credit cards for auto-pay.

Warning: Debit cards are not a valid form of payment for Exact Hosting services.

  1. Go to Billing > Payment Methods.
  2. Click Add New Credit Card.
  3. Optionally, enter a label in the Description field to help identify the card later.
  4. Enter your card number, expiry date, and CVV/CVC2.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Remove a credit card

Credit card details on file cannot be edited. To replace an out-of-date card, remove it and add the new card.

  1. Go to Billing > Payment Methods.
  2. Find the icons to the right of the card you want to remove, and click Delete.
  3. Click Yes in the confirmation pop-up.

Next steps

  • Confirm your billing details. Make sure your billing address and contact email are current so invoices and renewal reminders reach you.
  • Review your renewal schedule. Check the renewal dates on your services so a lapse does not catch you off guard.
  • Add a backup payment method. Storing a second card on file prevents service interruptions if your primary card expires or is declined.
