This article walks you through registering a new domain through your Exact Hosting client area. You will search for an available name, choose the registration length, add optional services, and complete checkout.
About domain registration with Exact Hosting
Registering a domain reserves a unique web address for your exclusive use for the term you select. As your registrar, Exact Hosting manages the registration with the relevant authority and renews the domain on your behalf if auto-renew is enabled.
While registering, you can also choose to host DNS with Exact Hosting and add ID Protection to keep your personal contact details out of the public WHOIS database.
Before you begin
- An Exact Hosting account. You need login credentials for the Exact Hosting Portal to access the registration workflow.
- A payment method. Have a valid credit card or other accepted payment method ready to complete checkout.
- Your preferred domain name. Have a few alternatives in mind in case your first choice is unavailable.
- Nameserver details (optional). If you plan to use your own DNS provider rather than Exact Hosting's, have at least two nameserver addresses ready.
Step 1: Sign in to the Exact Hosting Portal
Open the Exact Hosting Portal and enter your credentials to access your client area.
Step 2: Open the domain registration page
From the top navigation, open the Domains dropdown and select Register a New Domain.
Step 3: Search for your domain
Enter the domain name you want to register and click Select. The portal checks availability across supported extensions.
Tip: If your first choice is taken, the search results page suggests available alternatives across other extensions.
Step 4: Choose your registration term
If the domain is available, choose the number of years you want to register it for, then click Continue. Longer terms often offer better per-year pricing.
Step 5: Add optional services
On the configuration page, choose whether you want Exact Hosting to host your DNS and whether to add ID Protection. If you are using your own nameservers, enter at least the required minimum, then click Continue.
Tip: ID Protection masks your personal contact details in the public WHOIS database, reducing spam and unsolicited contact.
Step 6: Review your order
Review your cart, enter any promo codes, and click Checkout to proceed to payment.
Step 7: Complete payment
Confirm your contact and billing information, choose your payment method at the bottom of the screen, accept the terms of service, and click Complete Order. Your domain registration finalizes once payment is processed.
Next steps
